NELCAR Legends and Bando’s Invade Hudson; Leary, Eldredge, Fraser take wins in weekly divisions!

Hudson, NH – After losing to rain the week prior; The Family Fun track was back in action with a beautiful hot summer day. As hot as it was outside the racing action was just as heated on the track. Jesse Jakubajtys (44) set the quick time in time trials for the NHSTRAvision Modifieds and Joseph Fraser (37j) took the heat win in the Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners. While Frankie Eldredge (33xx) and “Porkchop” Austin Erickson (22) took heat race wins in the Northeast Auto Imports Late Models.

NELCAR Bandolero would start the evenings feature action. For those that have never seen these small cars they fly around the track due to weight to horsepower ratio. When you add in a green and hot track the cars were slipping and sliding at times, resulting in some rough crashes all day and the feature was no exception. Thankfully all drivers were reported to be okay. Ben Morabito had his number 17 on cruise control as he drove away with the win. The 16 of Sam Macedo was 2nd and the 11 of Ryan Vanasse Jr. was 3rd.

NELCAR Legends took to the track next 25 cars strong. Isaiah Newcomb in the 22 would lead the race early with Ty Leclerc in the 33 in tow. First restart of the race would see Newcomb and Leclerc made contact wheel to wheel ending both of their chances for the win. The 10 of Kevin Davis Jr. and the 13 of Jacob Burns brought the field back to the green. Davis Jr. would pull away with the lead but Burns would loose the 2nd spot to the 14 of Zachary Martinez but a few laps later Burns would make a pass to take the 2nd spot back. Caution would fly on lap 16 as the 78 of Jake Silvia would spin after contact from the 29 of Cole Robie, with both cars being sent to the rear. On the ensuing restart Silvia would and Robie would make contact again and this time sending Robie into the wall ending both of their days. Davis Jr. would hold on to lead lap 17 but lap 18 would see Burns take over the top spot and would take Martinez with him around Davis Jr. for the 2nd spot and forcing Davis Jr. to settle into third and this is how they would run for the remainder of the race.

The Black Flagged Podcast took to the track and would run green to checker. Fraser would lead the field to green with the 51 of Mike Dube to his outside. Dube and the 7 of Richard Marrocco for the 2nd spot. Heath DeButts would make the pass of Marrocco for 2nd spot on lap 8 and would bring the 23 of Dwight Southern Jr. past Marrocco. Souther Jr. would take the 2nd spot on lap 10. Dube would pass DeButts for 3rd on lap 17. But it was Squirt Gun Joey Fraser leading green to checker to take the win. Souther Jr. finished 2nd and Dube 3rd.

Northeast Auto Imports Late Models would be going 35 laps and it was Eldredge in the borrowed 33xx ride sitting on the pole with Erickson to his outside. Eldredge jumped out to the early lead with Erickson in tow. With side by side throughout the field the fans were glued to the track. Eldredge would look to run away with the race with Erickson 2nd and current points leader Milton Duran in the 08 would run 3rd. Duran would reel in Erickson and then use the outside groove to take the 2nd spot. As the battle for 4th place heated up as the 01 of Bill Helliwell would hold the inside line as the Cabana Boy Justin Beecher in the 57. Beecher made the pass for 4th over Helliwell, and 3rd spot of Erickson at the same time but Helliwell used a crossover move to retake the 4th spot from Erickson all in a matter of 100 feet, what a battle it was. As this was going on Duran was reeling in Eldredge and Beecher was reeling them both in but with only one lap to go time would run out. Eldredge would lead wire to wire taking down the win with Duran settling for 2nd and Beecher in 3rd, but what a race it was!

The NHSTRAvision Modifieds rolled onto the track next. The field was brought to the green by “Marshall-law” Mike Marshall in the 29 and Tyler Leary in the 2. Leary would take the lead using the outside groove. Leary would be followed closely by fast time setter Jakubajtys. Jakubajtys would throw everything but the kitchen sink at Leary as he tried to get the lead. The 19 of Jeffrey Battle would run 3rd as he tried to chase down the top two runners but would only get within a car length. Leary captured the win as Jakubajtys finished 2nd and Battle held on to 3rd.

Thank you to all the fans and teams for joining us; also thanks to those that joined us on NHSTRAvision. We are back in action on Sunday July 30th with New England Dwarf Car Series is in town along with the NHSTRAvision Modifieds, Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners, MLM Diagnostic Pure Stock, and the 75 lap Steve Krupski Memorial Granite State Gun Range Six Shooters.
